A 3 minute read

The King’s tops felt much too small and tight. He had to admit he was a little heavier than he was 6 months ago; ten or 15 pounds at least.  He had a good excuse though – several in fact. First off he had been quite ill and had not been able to move very much. It was only in the last couple of months that he had been able to get out of bed and make it from his bed chamber to the main hall. Here at least he had a change of scenery and more space to spread out (and spread he did) even though he was still only able to sit. Sitting all day he knew was not healthy for him but, he rationalized, it was probably better than laying in bed all day. And, because he wasn’t mobile he couldn’t partake of walks in his beautiful gardens (which he loved so much) and  receive the benefits of sun and fresh air.

What to do he wondered. He had lots of distractions. Many -but not all- were very satisfying and stimulating. Reading, food, art, eating, entertainment, snacks, hobbies, treats, writing,  mealtimes, day dreaming / meditating, perspective unsplsh photo-1427348693976-99e4aca06bb9chocolate and many other culinary delights. Many -but not all- of these only added to his creativity, understanding and knowledge; and they were fun to boot! Not an altogether bad situation – as situations go.  But the sitting and the weight gain and the detriment it was having on his overall health was not good.

What to do he wondered and pondered: “I must be able to think of something, I am the King after all.” Although, he thought with a sigh, it would be nice to be a thin King once again.

It would, and did, appear obvious to most what the cause of his weight gain was. It didn’t take a great thinker like Sherlock Holmes to figure that one out.  BUT, wondered and pondered the King, there was something else going on here. Something else was afoot. What was it …he wondered and pondered? Hmmm….

Hmmm… he continued to wonder and ponder in an ever increasing perplexed way. Hmmm… think man, he thought to himself, think!  And so he thought and thought and thought until he thought his head was going to explode.  And so it did.

THE END

Joking, joking – not really the end. Just making a point. The King’s brain, somewhat like his body, was getting fuller and fuller. And, his mind needed rest —  unlike his body which needed exercise and activity.

His body and brain were very similar in their fullness yet altogether different in the remedies required to bring them back into balance.

“Aha, I need to stop thinking” thought the King to himself. That’s what he thought again and again for several weeks forward. He gave it a great deal of serious, considered thought; this was about his health after all! He continued to wonder and ponder in an ever increasing perplexed way. Hmmm… think man, he thought to himself, think!  And so he thought and thought and thought some more until he thought his head was going to explode.  And so it did.

THE END

Joking, joking again – not really the end. Just making another point. So, why don’t I spare you all and jump to the real end. This thinking could go on forever – and often does. Which is how the King eventually began to feel and what he came to realize after what, he embarrassingly felt, was a very long time.

Long story short:  the King eventually became the Thin King once again.

His tops did fit him once again – but only after it became very clear that

thinking stops 1st    ⇐⇒  (hey, ya gotta start somewhere!) before a
king’s tops will fit an overly thinking king who becomes a
Thin King once again only after he
Stops Thinking

DEFINITELY THE END  (even I’ve had enough… my poor brain)

Note:  This reminded me of the cartoon show on Rocky and Bullwinkle ~ Fractured Fairy Tales with Mr. Peabody and Sherman.  I loved that show.
