   And I can prove it!

1. You’re here reading this = you have curiosity, interest, hope.

2. You have access to some kind of device to access the internet {isn’t living in this time period incredible! Technology amazes me every day.}  and  you have the intelligence to navigate it,

which means…

3. …you probably have a roof over your head, know where your next meal is coming from and probably have a bed to sleep in tonight.  Financially, I think that means you’re most likely in the top, single digit, percentage category of the world’s population.

4. You’ve made it this far. You’ve survived this long.  You can read – both physically (your eyes work)  and educationally (you’ve had opportunities to learn).

and you’re obviously very smart if you’ve read this far  🙂

5.   If  you can feel, i.e. have emotional responses to things  {mad, sad, glad, etc.}, then that’s a definite sign you’re not a mess.  Even if you have ‘bad’ feelings, even often, that’s still a good sign.  Bad feelings, even though they suck, can be informative, game changers, road marks / or roadblocks, ways to connect / or disconnect, pivot points, indicators, way to blow off steam and oh, so many other useful things.  And, the best part of all, while you’re learning and growing {hopefully} from them you can keep in mind that nothing lasts forever – even bad feelings.

Now, I’m not trying to be a Pollyanna-pain-in-the-butt,  and I’m sorry if you’re having a crummy day and feeling terrible;  been there myself many times and will again I’m sure.  It just seems to be part of the deal of being here, alive.

What I’m really doing is writing this for myself; I don’t believe I’m telling you anything new, things you don’t already know.  It’s just that when I’m feeling really bad, a Real Mess, I need to remind myself of how far I’ve come: what I’ve done, overcome, achieved, love(d), dreams, goals, desires, my strengths, gifts, relationships, how good I know I can make myself feel  …and all that other good stuff.  I forget. I get lost in the Mess. I need to remind myself.

It’s nice to know I have this posted here as a reminder that I can return to when needed.  For me, this kind of self-talk helps me feel less messy and more like the person I know I am and deserve to be. I hope there’s something here for you also.

Be Well,

Within the hour of finishing my post, I came across this YouTube movie review, which was not at all what I expected or was looking for.  Synchronicity?   I also gave it a ‘thumbs-up/Like’  – turns out I was the 3,333rd person to do so.  I have a thing for  repeating numbers …it was meant to be my friends.
